Nutella and Banana Stuffed Crescent Rolls

Image
Stuff a buttery crescent roll with banana and a schmear of Nutella, roll it in cinnamon sugar, and bake. This is the easiest recipe for happiness, in 10 minutes flat. Am I the only one with a banana-Nutella addiction? The mini-Karen-angel on my shoulder says, “let’s be healthy Karen! Have a banana for a snack!” and the mini-devil-Karen on my other shoulder says, “Yes Karen…a banana WITH NUTELLA.” And thus I am led, carefully and surely, down the path to diabetes. Nutella and Banana Stuffed Crescent Rolls Ingredients  1 can crescent rolls (8 rolls)  1/4 or 1/3 cup Nutella  2 bananas  1/3 cup sugar  1-3 teaspoons cinnamon Instructions Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly spray a baking sheet or line with parchment paper or a silpat. Open the can of crescent rolls and unroll. Spread some Nutella on the fat end of each roll. I didn't measure. Like a half tablespoon or so. Cut each banana into 4 segments. Place one on each roll. Roll up the dough and

DEVIL’S IN THE DETAILS | KAHLUA CHOCOLATE CAKE

Kahlua Chocolate Cake delivers rich chocolate flavor with warm Kahlua undertones. The recipe for the first cake I remember baking, a Kahlua Chocolate Cake, comes from one of my mom’s closest friends.  My mom asked for the recipe the very first time she tasted Stephanie’s rich, addictive cake. It’s one of those desserts that people fall in love as soon as the first bite hits their taste buds.  Without fail, every time I bake it, at least one person asks me for the recipe. Kahlua Chocolate Cake Prep Time 15 mins Cook Time 60 mins Total Time 1 hour 15 mins Author Suzanne Cowden Recipe type Dessert Serves 10 to 12 INGREDIENTS Cake 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped 2¼ cups unbleached all-purpose flour ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1½ teaspoons baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 cup Kahlua 1 cup sour cream 9 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened but still cool 1½ cups brown sugar 3 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract ¼ cup boiling water 1½ cup

BACON WRAPPED JALAPENO POPPER APPETIZER RECIPE

Image
We all have a appetizer recipe to make and mine is this super easy Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper recipe, so when my friends challenged me to come up with a Bacon-Wrapped Appetizer it didn’t take me much to decide. My friend Jody introduced us to these babies at a dinner party she hosted and we’ve been making them regularly since. They are dead simple and so much more delicious than the common jalapeno poppers. Bacon just makes everything better doesn’t it? Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Popper Appetizer Recipe Serves:  12 Prep time:   10 mins  Cook time:   20 mins  Total time:   30 mins Ingredients 6 Jalapeno peppers 1 8oz block cream cheese 12 slices of bacon Instructions Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds and white rind. Pat the jalapeno dry and spread cream cheese inside it, the amount is up to you….we tend to be generous with it. Lay a piece of bacon down, place the stuffed jalapeno on it and gently w

Spicy Shrimp Tacos + Sour Cream Cilantro Sauce

Yeah, it’s official. I’m obsessed with tacos.  But I feel like there could be worse things, right?  Last week, I took full advantage of Taco Tuesday. We stopped into this quaint little restaurant in Pinehurst for lunch, and the place was packed.  Apparently they have a pretty good Taco Tuesday special, so *duh* – I had to do it!  I ordered one mahi mahi taco, one carnitas taco, and one grilled shrimp taco. Of course I loved them all, but the shrimp tacos were particularly good.  Then I was like, dang.  I really need to make some shrimp tacos for my blog! Red velvet cake with chocolate chips and a cream cheese frosting that tastes like the popular Nothing Bundt cake. Summer is here! Well, not the season but the kids are out from school. Yay for them! I’m so happy they can relax and take some time off. I remember being SO excited for Summer when I was a child. It’s so exciting. But now I’m a parent and it’s a bit different. I love my kids so much and truly enjoy spending time with them, but Summer is HARD for blogging mommies. And also for work from home daddies. Goat Cheese Phyllo Purses

Image
Elegant phyllo purses filled with tangy goat cheese and bacon. The menu is outstanding. I chose to make Phyllo Purses, or you might know them as Beggar’s Purses: an oozy goat cheese filling wrapped up with a few layers of delicate, crispy phyllo dough. And butter. Where there is phyllo, there is butter! Goat Cheese Phyllo Purses Yields:  8 purses Estimated time:  30 minutes Ingredients 5 oz goat cheese, softened 2 Tbsp chives, chopped 4 slices of pancetta or bacon, cooked to a crisp (prosciutto is good, it's just not crispy) black pepper 6 sheets of phyllo dough 6-8 Tbsp of melted butter Chives or strips of the tops of green onions for tying Instructions Preheat the oven to 400. Stir together goat cheese, chives, crumbled bacon, and a few grinds of black pepper in a small bowl. If the goat cheese is too hard, put it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Unroll the phyllo dough onto a dry surface. Remove 1 sheet of phyllo dough and place it on a dry surface (
